HSBC invests $10m in Nova Credit

Wondered why the HSBC share price jumped by 4.5% at 11:30am today? Well a company news release stated that they sold their entire stake in Canada to the Royal Bank of Canada for CAD$13.5bn in cash. This will provide a boost of £8.3bn (USD$9.9bn) to HSBCs balance sheet and allow a return of a special one-off dividend, share buy back, or both…

Royal Bank of Canada has signed a deal to acquire HSBC Bank Canada for $13.5 billion in cash. RBC said it expects to close the deal by late 2023.
